The Battle of Naboo (18 BBY) was a battle between the Galactic Empire and Royal Naboo during the early Imperial Period. The Empire engineered a regime change after they found out that Queen Apailana was sheltering fugitive Jedi in Theed Palace, and they killed Apailana, several Jedi, and a vast majority of Royal Naboo Security Forces personnel.
Background[]
Order 66 was issued in 19 BBY by Chancellor Palpatine to his clone troopers in order to purge the Jedi Order, claiming that they launched a failed rebellion against him and attempted to assassinate him in his office. Some people in the senate that were sympathetic to the Jedi invited them to their planets, giving them sanctuary. One of these people was Queen Apailana of Naboo, who made the Jedi her elite bodyguards. The Galactic Empire was angered at her giving shelter to the Jedi, and she refused to join the "New Order". As a result, Darth Vader dispatched the 501st Legion to Naboo to make an example of other troublemakers in the Empire.
Battle[]
The 501st Legion under Maximilian Veers was landed in the royal plazas and engaged the Royal Naboo Security Forces (RNSF) personnel. The stormtroopers killed several of the security forces and secured the landing zones before launching an offensive towards the main gates. Using an IFT-T tank granted to them by Veers, the Empire secured the embassy and proceeded to take out the defense console grid that powered the autoturrets defending Theed. With the autoturrets down, the Jedi were hunted down, with the stormtroopers killing over a dozen of them before they went after the Queen, who was trying to escape. Apailana was gunned down before she could flee her palace with her guards. With Apailana dead, the Empire was able to assert its control over the planet.
