Chirrut Imwe (died 0 BBY) was a warrior-monk from the planet of Jedha who sided with the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War, dying at the Battle of Scarrif.
Biography[]
Chirrut Imwe was born on the planet of Jedha, and he became a warrior-monk in Jedha City despite his blindness. Imwe was force-sensitive, using the Force to see around him and to become a skilled martial artist, employing a bowcaster and staff as his weapons. In 0 BBY, Imwe took part in the ambush of one of the Galactic Empire's Kyber crystal convoys in Jedha City, and he helped the rebels Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso in escaping from the stormtroopers sent to capture or kill them. Imwe and his mercenary friend Baze Malbus would assist the rebels in their quest to find the Death Star plans, joining them during their infiltration of Eadu and their assault on Scarrif. Imwe helped in pulling the master switch to allow for the orbital shield to be disabled, walking through the killzone to pull the lever. However, he was killed when a stormtrooper threw a thermal detonator at him, and Malbus would meet the same fate while attempting to avenge him.
